What does Encinitas Cares do and who belongs to this coalition?
Encinitas Cares is a grassroots coalition of residents, businesses, and community leaders working together to create a stronger, more inclusive city. We champion compassion, strengthen community connections, and uphold dignity through advocacy, education, clear information and community-driven action.
Who created Encinitas Cares and why?
Encinitas Cares was created by concerned residents, community groups and nonprofits who saw the need for truthful advocacy and more respectful public dialogue around community challenges, including homelessness. By coming together, we aim to share vetted facts and credible information, promote understanding, and show that solutions are possible when we work together.
Who does Encinitas Cares support?
We support and amplify the work of local nonprofits in Encinitas and North County who address critical needs such as senior care, food insecurity, transportation, homelessness prevention, healthcare, veteran services, and domestic violence intervention. Our partners include Community Resource Center, Healthy Day Partners, ProduceGood, PACE North County Center, and others.
How can I get involved as a volunteer?
Our coalition is growing, and there are many ways to make a difference. Volunteer opportunities include:

Is Encinitas Cares a nonprofit organization?
Encinitas Cares is a grassroots coalition. While we partner with nonprofit organizations, our role is to advocate, connect, and mobilize the community in support of their work.
Does Encinitas Cares provide direct services?
No. We don’t provide housing, food, or case management directly. Instead, we work to strengthen and amplify the nonprofits that do. By connecting residents with resources and sharing truthful information, we help ensure our community members know where to turn for support.
Why is dignity such an important part of your mission?
We believe every neighbor — from seniors on fixed incomes to families struggling to get by and veterans trying to make ends meet — deserves respect, compassion, and the opportunity to thrive. Upholding dignity is at the heart of our work and the foundation of a strong, inclusive community.
